Chalice's Groups

Our many and varied groups enjoy the beauty and warmth of our spaces, and support Chalice in return. Whether it's by performing at our events, bringing muscle power to our working bees or making donations to our fundraisers, our groups make a significant contribution to the social health of Chalice.

High Street Bells Choir

Monday mornings

Our all-abilities choir is a fixture during school term time here, led by Jenny Taylor, and supported by a veritable army of volunteers. Their repertoire is broad and their enthusiasm knows no bounds! They are available for performances - enquire through their website.

Shaking the Tree Choir

Sunday mornings

This choir warms the Hall with song every Sunday morning. Led by Bronwyn Calcutt. Check them out here. STT sang at the Chalice Trivia night in November 2016.

Expressive Women Choir

La La La French Choir

Wednesday evenings

The La La La French Choir sing in the Church every Wednesday night during term time. Their Bastille Day concert every July is a warming note on the Chalice calendar.

Finding Your Voice

Kath Amour and Trish Reck run small group Art Therapy and Music sessions several times a year in the Church and have done so for several years.

Melbourne inclusive Church

Formerly Acts2Faith, this group of LGBTQI Christians meet every Sunday at 11.30am in the Church. Led by Pastor Becky Bauer.

Eastment street studios

Our studio spaces are used by writers and textile artists on a day-a-week basis. They provide a low cost option for artists and creatives who need space apart from home to do their work.

Garden Group

This small but determined group meet monthly to weed, water and tidy the garden spaces around Chalice. Our gardens are an oasis on High Street and provide respite for many passers-by. Many local workers bring their lunches into the gardens on fine days, and mums with prams often stop to let their toddlers play around in the yards.

Our garden beds are regular providers of herbs, fresh greens, pomegranates and figs.

We are always on the lookout for new members, with fresh ideas for planting out the garden beds, and keeping the water up to them. Contact admin@chalice.org.au to find out how you can get involved.

Our Silver Princess Gum welcomes visitors to our courtyard.

Hoops Thighs Buttocks

Thursday nights

Jade Nicholson runs regular series of hula hoop classes on a Thursday evening in the hall during term time. Check her work out here.

Move Create Dance

Lots of lovely classes across the week!

Anne Gollan brought her child dance classes to Chalice late in 2015, and has a growing following among the small folk of Northcote and surrounds. She holds a variety of classes in drama and dance for varying age groups on Monday and tuesday afternoons, Friday and Saturday mornings in the Hall, as well as school holiday workshops.
